Obituary for Andrew D. Baron

Andrew D. Baron, 76, Northern Cambria, passed away peacefully January 29, at home, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with vascular dementia. Born September 16, 1941, in Marsteller, the son of Andrew and Eva (Zedack) Baron. Preceded in death by parents, brother Michael, sister Mary Brazill. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Barbara (Kowardy) Baron, son Kevin (Vicki) Baron, Leesburg, VA; daughter and caregiver, Bev (Brian) Rematt, Northern Cambria; grandchildren, Kelsey Baron, Lovettsville, VA; Andrew Baron, Leesburg, VA; and Dr. Hannah (Jesse) Carnevali, Murrysville, PA. Also survived by sister, Ann Lynn, Philadelphia. While serving in the Navy, Andy was on the USS Delong during the Cuban Missle Crisis. A coal miner, he worked for Barnes & Tucker and later became the superintendent of the Tanoma Mine, his most fulfilling, rewarding and challenging job in his career. After his retirement he went to work for Central Cambria Drilling. His greatest joys in life were his family, especially his grandchildren, and his many pets, followed by his favorite hobby, woodworking. His family greatly appreciates his niece, Susan (Baron) Havrilla, for her assistance during the years of caring for Andy. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to animal rescue organizations, such as Four Footed Friends, Indiana, PA or JudgesPark.org, Edinburg, PA. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria is in charge of arrangements.
