Obituary for Paul P. Kopera

KOPERA, PAUL P., 88, Northern Cambria, passed away July 11, 2018, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born January 9, 1930, in Hastings, the son of Joseph and Mary (Tabatcher) Kopera. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Ruth (Bearer) Kopera, who died July 16, 1998; and brothers Steve and George Kopera. Survived by children, Daniel (Lois) Kopera, Manassas, VA; Mary (Paul) Letizia, Ebensburg; Richard (Roxanne) Kopera, Manassas, VA; Linda (Tim) Weaver, Windber; and Patrick (Kimberly) Kopera, Hastings. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by special friend of many years, Anna Mae (Doran) Greer. Brother of Joseph Kopera and Cecilia Yazwinski, both of New York; and William Kopera, South Carolina. US Army Veteran of the Korean War and life member of Spangler VFW Post 7503 and American Legion Post 569. Life Member of Spangler Fire Co. and Hastings Fireman’s Club. Member of Central District Fireman’s Association. Retired from Bethlehem Steel with 35 years of service. Friends will be received from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria; and from 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings until funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
