Obituary for Michael John Kurtz

KURTZ, MICHAEL JOHN., 60, died March 23, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born August 3, 1957, in Spangler, the son of John C. and Elizabeth (Orichosky) Kurtz. Preceded in death by father. Survived by mother, of Hastings; siblings, Susan (William) Hockenberry, Hastings; Deborah (Michael) Baker, Virginia Beach, VA; Gregory P. (Karen) Kurtz, Hastings; and Rosemary (Stephen) Warner, Ebensburg. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. US Navy Veteran and member of Twin Rocks VFW where he served as a Post Commander. Employed in the Maintenance Dept. of St. Francis University. Formerly employed as a DNA specialist for the State Crime Lab in Greensburg. Friends will be received from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where military honors will be held at 7:00 p.m. Final committal will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. The Kurtz family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Unit at Conemaugh Hospital, whose nurses and staff provided exceptional care and comfort to Michael.
