Obituary for Dr. Ronald J. Lieb, DDS

Dr. Ronald J. Lieb, D.D.S., 85, of Indiana, PA., died August 28, 2018 at Garvey Manor Nursing home in Hollidaysburg after an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1933, in Nicktown, PA, son of Reuben and Viola (Dumm) Lieb. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Father Joel Lieb, O.S.B., St. Vincent Archabbey, Latrobe, Charles and Chester, both of Nicktown, and sisters, Lucille Duman (Stanton), Ebensburg, and Julia Lantzy, Patton. Survived by brother, Mark (Janet) Lieb and sister, Theresa Lieb, both of Nicktown; sisters-in-law, Carmine and Louise Lieb; brother-in-law, Bede Lantzy; and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. Beginning at age 13, he attended St. Vincent Preparatory School where he graduated in 1951, and then entered the Scholasticate before graduating St. Vincent College with a B.A. in Philosophy in 1956. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1958 and his D.D.S. degree from its School of Dentistry in 1962. Ron served his country as a captain in the U. S. Air Force Dental Corps. After his military discharge he began his dentistry practice in Kittanning, always striving to provide optimal care to his patients for 50 years. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Bernard of Clairvaux Parish Indiana, PA. His faith was an important part of his life and was evidenced in his efforts and actions to help the less fortunate. He was a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny-Kiski Dental Associations and the Benevolent Order of Elks – Kittanning Lodge. Ron was an excellent and accomplished dentist and so much more. His well-worn Bible and prayer books were a testament to his deep faith. Philanthropy to many causes, especially St. Vincent College, was extensive. He enjoyed the outdoors, skiing into his late 70’s, tennis, farming, spending time with family and friends, lively discussions, and card games. He hosted numerous holiday and everyday meals and gatherings. He had an immense love for his family and was a wonderful brother and uncle, sharing his love for life with his many friends. Words cannot express our love and loss, but the memory of his mischievous sense of humor and his hearty laugh will forever put a smile on our faces. The family sincerely thanks all the staff at Garvey Manor for their compassion, dedication, and care during Ron’s illness. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 30 at Moriconi Funeral Home, 1303 Bigler Ave., Northern Cambria, PA.
