LAUER, BERNARDINE A., 87, Carrolltown, passed away February 23, 2024. Born March 19, 1936, in Barnesboro, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Lescinsky) Riva. Preceded in death by parents and loving husband, Joseph W. Lauer, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident October 13, 1980. They married August 25, 1962. Survived by daughter, Susanne Hines, Pittsburgh; son, Paul (Erica Crowell) Lauer, Carrolltown; grandchildren Kelsi Hines, Grace Hines, Josephine (Will) Hays, Jetro Hines and Bryce Lauer; three great grandchildren Aya, Ava, and Ala Hays; and siblings Joan (Jim) Connors, Olney, MD; Dolores (Joe) Trentini, Johnstown, PA; Mary Lou (Bill) Shortencarrier, Hastings, PA; and Louis Riva, Ebensburg, PA. Member of Saint Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, where she was an active volunteer at church events and a member of the Altar Rosary Society for many years. She was a graduate of Barnesboro High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Johnstown from which she graduated as a registered nurse. She worked in the nursery at Miners Hospital in Spangler and then gave up her career to raise her children. She then worked as the East Carroll Township Secretary for many years so that she could work from home and take care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating cakes, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her family. Family and friends will be received in the Boniface Wimmer room at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, on Tuesday, February 27, from 9 am until the 11 am funeral mass at the church, Father Michael Gabler, O.S.B., celebrant. Interment, St. Benedict Church Cemetery, Carrolltown. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to St. Benedict Church Improvement Fund or St. Benedict Church Cemetery Fund.
