JOINER, A. BERTENA, 92, Northern Cambria, passed away November 14, 2023, at home. Born November 3, 1931, in Cherry Tree, the daughter of Max Ray and Effie Alice (Crosmun) Fleming. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Arthur Fleming; sisters, Arthenia Royer, Esther Fox, and Ruth Buchholtz; and loving husband, Carl R. Joiner, who died April 1, 2017. Survived by children, Sharon (Keith) Rearick, Clymer; Barbara (Rev. Fred) Catchpole, Clymer; Sandra (Walter) Schroth, Indiana; Carla (Rev. Robert) Kester, Flushing, OH; Gary (Melissa) Joiner, Alverda; Craig (Shandra) Joiner, Brantford, ON, Canada, and Eric (Holli) Joiner, Northern Cambria; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, June Berringer and brother, Jim Fleming. Bertena was a devoted wife and mother, who worked alongside her husband on their family dairy farm. Together they raised their family with their strong work ethic and faith. She enjoyed travel, cooking, sewing, gardening, watching birds, reading, or listening to her Bible, and lively social visits with friends and family. She had a generous spirit & gave to support those in need, veteran programs, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and many Christian ministries to ensure the Gospel would be spread throughout the world. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where a viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday. Rev. Fred Catchpole & Rev. Robert Kester will be officiating. Interment is at Independent Country Cemetery, Tipperary Rd., Pine Township, Indiana County.
