PENKSA, CATHERINE THERESA “Katie” 91, Northern Cambria, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 28, at Haida Health & Rehabilitation Center, Hastings. Born November 21, 1929, in Hastings, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Bendzella) Serafin. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, Albert Penksa Sr., who she married in 1953 and who died in 1990; brothers, Joseph, who died a casualty of WWII, John, Andy and Paul Serafin; sisters, May Depto, Ann Solnosky, Betty Bertram and Jean Saurs. She was the beloved mother of Albert Jr.; Joseph, married to Sally (Barrett); and John, married to Tammy (Valenty); and an adoring grandmother to her ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also survived by her brother, Albert (Joanne) Serafin and many nieces and nephews. Catherine had a deep devotion to our Blessed Mother and was a member of the Legion of Mary, serving as president for numerous years. She was involved in many rosary rallies in her community, often going to nursing homes and visiting the sick. She would bring Our Lady of Fatima for prayer, comfort and hope to those unable to attend Mass. She was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Due to current health concerns the Penksa family will have a private visitation at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. Northern Cambria. Family and friends are welcome to a funeral mass which will be celebrated at 10 am. Friday, December 4, at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Matthew Baum officiating.
