Catherine "Kitty" Baker Obituary

BAKER, CATHERINE L. “Kitty”, 81, Northern Cambria, passed away November 5, 2022.  Born February 7, 1941, in Spangler, the daughter of Michael and Louise (Lantzy) Patrick.  Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, Leo Baker, who died February 12, 2020; son, Richard Baker; sister, Shirley Legros; and many family members and friends whom she missed dearly.  Survived by daughter, Cynthia (Brian) Moriconi; son, Jerry Baker (Jen), both of Northern Cambria; daughter-in-law, Debra Baker, Virginia; grandchildren, Ben (Jess) Baker, Altoona; Caitlin (Gavin) Mock, Imler; Nicholas Moriconi (Molly), Vintondale; Allison Moriconi, Northern Cambria; Justin Baker (Makayla), Northern Cambria; Brandon Baker, Ebensburg; and great-granddaughters, Emma & Brandalyn.  Kitty is also survived by her brothers, Ronald (Elaine) Patrick, Northern Cambria; William (Kathy) Patrick, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Louis Legros, St. Benedict; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends with whom she held special relationships.  Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria.  Formerly employed by Cambria Medical Supply and later Conemaugh Home Health.  Kitty was known to many for her passionate hobbies and varied interests.  An avid sports fan and follower of the Steelers, Penguins, and all things Penn State.  It was understood that Saturdays in the fall were spent at Beaver Stadium with her “Penn State family”, these friends she met over the years on the many bus trips they shared to out of state games and end of season Bowl games.  She excitedly took all the grandchildren to games each year and never lost her enthusiasm to share that love with them.  She had a competitive spirit and played tennis for decades with her closest friends, winning many tournaments over the years.  She was full of adventure and loved to travel.  Her annual vacations with several of her cousins took her to all 50 states, many of the countries of Europe, and across the Canadian provinces.   She had a full and interesting life, but closest to her heart were her children, grandchildren, and all things family.  She will be missed and remembered by many.  Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 11, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 811 Chestnut Avenue, Northern Cambria.   Fr. Mark Groeger officiating.  Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery.
