CHILA, CHARLES A., 85, Northern Cambria, passed away January 16, 2024. Born August 12, 1938, in Barnesboro, the son of Joseph and Alverta (Horn) Chila. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Alivia Chila; brother, Joseph Chila; sister, Eleanor Stiffler; brothers-in-law, Leslie Stiffler, James Tishok, Paul Hampton, Thomas Bearer, David Sidwar, and David Smithbower; and sisters-in-law, Flora (Kasick) Chila, and Mary Lou Mack. Survived by loving wife of 62 years, Rosella (Crimaldi) Chila; sons, Anthony Chila, Chris Chila and Joseph (Deanna) Chila, all of Northern Cambria; and grandson, Dante. Brother of Jennie Goaziou, Taylor, AZ; Darla Tishok, Highpoint, NC; Linda Sidwar, Clermont, FL; Deborah Chila, Loretto; brother-in-law, Robert (Janet) Mack, Stuart, FL; and sisters-in-law, Lena Hampton, Northern Cambria; and Patty Bearer, Carrolltown. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Retired coalminer from Bethelem Mine Corp.’s Cambria 33 Mine. US Army Veteran and life member of American Legion Post 508. Member of Knights of Columbus Council 2277 and Sons of Italy Carmelo Lodge 1259. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed time in the outdoors going hunting and fishing with his family and friends. Chuck was always a hard worker, tough and smart to the end. The Chila family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to his many caregivers who provided excellent care and to the Veteran’s Services for their dedication to taking care of a fellow disabled veteran. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21st, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22nd. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
