SPACHT, CLETUS P. “Sugar Bear” or “Sug”, 88, Hastings, passed away June 22, 2026. Born August 1, 1937, in Spangler, the son of John and Helen (Elliott) Spacht. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Rita Evelyn (Weakland) Spacht, who died January 26, 2024; great-granddaughter, Avery; and brothers, Truman and Alvin Spacht. Survived by children, Michelle (Kurt) McLucas, St. Benedict; Melanie (James) Kopera Jr., Johnstown; Kenneth (Angela) Spacht, Colver; and Melissa (Mark) Venesky, Ebensburg. 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Brother of Carter Spacht, Ebensburg. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Cletus retired after working 35 years as the head mechanic for Switzler Buick Oldsmobile in Ebensburg. A proud US Army Veteran earning the rank of SGT E-5 (T). Cletus was an outdoorsman at heart and a member of the Smokey Valley Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and beekeeping, and was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Hastings beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Military honors will be held following Mass by local veteran’s organizations. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
