SMYCHYNSKY, CORNELIUS J. “Conn”, 85, Northern Cambria, passed away peacefully, July 16, 2023, at Indiana Regional Medical Center, after a brief, hard fought battle with cancer. Born October 14, 1937, in Bakerton, the son of Wasco and Julia (Kutsick) Smychynsky. Preceded in death by parents, loving wife, Dorothy L. (Fisanich) Smychynsky, who died February 20, 2006; brothers, Joseph, Paul, and Frank Smychynsky. Survived by daughter, Cheri, wife of Joseph Campbell, Friedens; son, John Smychynsky, Wexford; his four granddaughters that he absolutely adored, Sydney and Abby Campbell, and Gabby and Lexie Smychynsky. Brother of Thomas “Ron” (Nancy) Smychynsky, Carrolltown; Donald “Doc” (Judy) Smychynsky, Elmora; JoAnn (Thomas) Kerfoot, New Jersey; Diane Smychynsky (Michael Mandrick), Elmora; and daughter-in-law, Leslie Smychynsky. Conn was a proud US AirForce Veteran serving four years. Retired from Greenwich Collieries. Member of Colver Rod & Gun Club. He loved hunting, spending his time growing an amazing garden, and cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where a funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Fr. Mark Groeger officiating. Military honors by local veterans’ organizations. Committal, Holy Name Mausoleum. Spacial thanks to his loving and devoted brother, Ron & Nancy, and sister, Diane & Mike, who helped in so many ways making it possible for Conn to stay in his home.
