Daniel Antos Obituary

ANTOS, DANIEL R., 83, Northern Cambria, passed away January 27, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born December 20, 1942, in Barnesboro, the son of Michael and Agnes (Chuhran) Antos.  Preceded in death by parents; brothers, John, Joseph, and Michael Antos; sister, Mary Ann Hollen, and grandson, Daniel J. Antos Jr.  Survived by loving wife, Carol J. (Ritchey), who he married June 19, 1965, and together they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past summer.  Also survived by children, Carolyn, wife of Scott Semelsberger, Northern Cambria; Daniel J. Antos (Lisa), Dillsburg, PA; Georgette, wife of Andy Ostinowsky, Ebensburg; grandchildren, Alexa (Matthew) Brown, Brooke (Corbin) Corrente, Caroline Semelsberger (Brett), and Scotty Semelsberger; Benjamin, Brayden, Jillian and Lillian Antos; Taylor Ostinowsky (Tristan), Madison and Andrew Ostinowsky; and a great-grandson Brown expected Spring 2026.  Also survived by sisters, Agnes Long, Indiana; and Martha Hibel, Timonium, MD.  Dan met his wife, Carol during the second half of sophomore year and began a journey which would lead to a life centered around faith and family.  Dan graduated from Indiana University of PA, with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and continued his education at Penn State University with graduate classes in his chosen field.  He started his career as a chemist working at Appleton Paper Mill, Bethlehem Steel, and Standard Laboratories.  He, along with his wife Carol, was the founder of Cardan Laboratories, a coal and water testing business that has employed several family members and other loyal employees for many years.  They recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the business, a milestone of which they were very proud.  He and Carol raised their family with strong values deeply rooted in their Catholic Faith.  He was always involved in the activities of his children and grandchildren from grade school through their college years.  Family trips to Disney World and the beach with the children and grandchildren were among his happiest times.  He was a life-long enthusiast of Radio-Control Airplanes, both flying them and building his own.  He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved comic strips, and spending time with his fur buddies, Rex, Mulligan, Hank and Bella.   At home, he enjoyed working in his yard and around the house.  Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc.
