Debra D. Woods

WOODS, DEBRA D., 69, Indiana, passed away June 15, 2024, at home.  Born November 2, 1954, in Spangler, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Smith) Woods.  Preceded in death by parents; son, William Boring; and brothers, Gary and Larry Woods.  Survived by son, Todd (Trish) Boring, Cherry Tree; daughter, Erin (Justin) Brooks, Cherry Tree; grandchildren, Steven Boring, Gregory Boring, Jayce Brooks, Quentin Brooks, Xzavier Boring, Aiden Boring, Aunika Brooks; brother, Randy Woods, Indiana; and close family friend, Viona Sesti “Grand-Ma Vi” of Indiana. Debra was a 35 year employee of IRMC where she began working in 1974.  Her career at the hospital began as a posting clerk and she also held positions to include receptionist, employment secretary and HR Generalist. She advanced and later worked as an administrative secretary in the Medical Director’s office and in the Administration office.  Along the way, Debbie furthered her education to enhance her career.  She obtained an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree which helped her advance into management roles to include Director of Patient Access, Executive Director of the Foundation and Manager of Business Development.  In 2000 Debbie chaired the Employee Gifts Division of the hospital’s Healthy Friends, Vital Neighbors capital campaign.  In 2009 Debra accepted a position with  Westmoreland County Community College working as their Foundation Director from which she eventually retired.   Always doing her part to help others, she was a supporter of area women’s shelters and formerly volunteered with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization.  Honoring her request there will be no public viewing.  Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Gathering which will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Kinport Assembly of God Church, Cherry Tree.  Pastor Thomas Manning.  Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
