GWIZDAK, DOLORES C. (Bakale), 91, Carrolltown, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2024. Born May 19, 1932, in Dunlo, the daughter of Stephen J. and Barbara F. (Matlin) Bakale. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Mildred Fedore, Eleanora Estok, Barbara Wess; and brothers, Stephen Jr., Robert, Ernest, Edward and Joseph Bakale. She is the beloved wife of Anthony “Polock” Gwizdak Jr., of Carrolltown, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. He lovingly referred to her as “Gingerbread”. Also survived by sisters, Mary Naglic, Betty Jane Pristas, Darlene (Steve) Berzansky; sisters-in-law, Kitty Cross, Connie Mayhugh, Marge Bakale and Margie Bakale, and many nieces and nephews. Formerly employed by Bishop Carroll High School where she worked many years in the cafeteria. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown; Ebensburg VFW and Carrolltown American Legion. Dolores was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed spending time with her siblings and their families. No visitation will be held at the request of the family. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, Fr. Michael Gabler, OSB, celebrant. Interment will be at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA. Donations may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses or via Venmo to Ed Pristas @Ed-Pristas.
