Doris Eget Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Doris Marie (Carson) Eget who left us peacefully on October 4, 2025 at the age of 80. Doris was born March 7, 1945, in Spangler to Joseph and Helen (Shutty) Carson.  Doris joins her husband James Anthony “Jim” who passed away on February 12, 2017. Preceded in death by her brothers Joseph, John, and Edward and infant siblings JoAnn and Bobby.  Her father-in-law and mother-in- law George and Josephine Eget, and her sister-in-law, Gloria Clipper Prelock.  Doris is survived by daughters Lorie, wife of Dr. Donald Ratchford, Ebensburg; Jamie, wife of Robert Sherry, Northern Cambria; Kari, Ebensburg; sons James Anthony Jr. and wife Leslie (Latoche) of Tracey’s Landing, Maryland; George and Betsy (Wrask) of Barre, Vermont; Gram to Addison James and Caroline Ratchford; Taylor, Georgia and Anna Sherry; Kallin Eget-McGlynn and Johnny Weiland; James Anthony Eget III and Quintin Eget. Brothers Robert Carson, Northern Cambria and Reverend Monsignor Stanley B. Carson, Altoona. Sisters-in-law Carol Carson, Northern Cambria; Delrose Carson, Indiana; Peggy Carson, Johnstown; Joanne (Amadei) Lunardi of Ravenna, Ohio and Georgette (George) Kutsor of Pontiac, Illinois, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Doris “Gram” devoted her life to her family, creating a home filled with warmth, kindness, and love. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed a chance to share in their laughter, achievements, and dreams.  Whether she was making waffles, preparing her sauce and meatballs, taking numerous trips to Dairy Queen, sitting on the porch and talking, attending basketball, soccer, volleyball games and track meets, watching numerous dance recitals, traveling to Maryland to see the boys or simply giving a hug and an “I love you,” Gram had a way of making each feel loved beyond measure.  We will miss her deeply, but we find comfort in knowing her love lives on in each of us — especially in the hearts of her grandchildren.  Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11 at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace, Northern Cambria. Reverend Monsignor Stanley B. Carson officiating.  Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Staff at John Paul II Manor, the care givers of the Villages of Maple Heights, and Pinnacle Hospice for the compassionate care provided to our mother and grandmother in her final months.
