Dorothy M. (Lake) Bodek

BODEK, DOROTHY M., 93, Northern Cambria, was called home to God on May 28, 2024, where she was embraced by her late husband, Louis Bodek Sr. and their son, Louis Bodek Jr.  Dorothy was born April 13, 1931, in Spangler, the last surviving member of the John and Margaret (Krotendorfer) Lake family.  In addition to her husband and son, she is preceded in death by brothers, Richard and John Lake.  Lovingly known as “Baba” to family and friends alike, she was the proud mother of Linda (Gary) Baker, Loretto; Darlene (Fred) Yuhas, Northern Cambria; Ken Bodek (fiancé Mary), Ebensburg; Karen (Ken) Bobak, Ashville; Michelle (Bob) Leary, Ebensburg; daughter-in-law, Cindy Bodek, Northern Cambria; and a proud grandmother to 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren with another anticipated soon.  Dorothy cherished her family and together with her husband, they raised their children by example with a deep faith in God.  An active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church for many years.   She was appreciative of the caregivers who helped her and the friendships she made with them. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, she devoted her time to the students of Northern Cambria Middle School as a cafeteria worker, still enjoying the job well into her 70’s.  She made her home a welcoming and warm place and passed on her polish heritage with holiday celebrations, and the family’s annual Christmas Eve meal with her traditional dishes such as pierogies and nut rolls.  Dorothy enjoyed quiet time on the porch, reading novels, planting flowers, or eating a Dairy Queen hot fudge sundae.  Above all she enjoyed time with family and attending all the events of her children and grandchildren throughout the years.  Honoring her wishes there will be no public viewing.  Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at Prince of Peace Church.  Fr.
