Douglas E. Abel

ABEL, DOUGLAS E., 55, Northern Cambria, passed away May 21, 2024, at UPMC Altoona Hospital.  Born February 10, 1969, in Spangler, the son of Daniel and Carol (Beltowski) Abel, of Hastings. In addition to his parents he is survived by loving wife, Toni Marie (DePetro) Abel; daughters, Hannah and Sarah Abel, all of Northern Cambria.  Also survived by brother, Greg (Erin) Abel; sister, Leah (Scott) McAndrews; and niece, Sydney McAndrews, all of Hastings; and in-laws, Tony and Jennie (Hebner) DePetro, Northern Cambria.  He will be greatly missed by his dogs Murphy & Miley who were his loyal companions.  Employed in the Asbestos and Demolition Industry for Sipes Demolition where he worked alongside many who became great friends, especially his boss, Tom Sipes.  Doug was always available to help others and lend a hand when he could.  He was a friend to all and had an infectious laugh that will be missed by all who knew him.  Above all he was happiest in his role as husband and father, spending time with Toni Marie and their daughters.  Family and friends will be received at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2024.  A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant.   Interment, St. Bernard Cemetery.
