Edith Mary (Duman) Parrish

PARRISH – Edith Mary, 105, Nicktown, died June 9, 2026, at home. Born February 8, 1921, in Barr Township, daughter of the late Walter and Aline (Kirsch) Duman. Preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Merle Parrish (WWII, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers); and daughter Sally, husband Eugene (Gene) Farabaugh, Nicktown. Survived by children, Daniel and wife, Jo Ann (Miller), Coatesville, PA.; Richard (Dick) and wife, Kathy (Harteis), Knoxville, TN; and David and wife, Elaine (Gallagher), Downingtown, PA. Edith is also survived by brothers and sisters, Geraldine, wife of deceased husband, Donald Long; Herman, deceased wives Mildred (Noel) and Carol (Diviny); and Jean, wife of deceased husband, Spero Tsikalas, all of Ebensburg, PA; Margie, wife of deceased husband Jack Dinicola, Placentia, CA; Nancy, wife of Duane "Sonny" Plummer, Chambersburg, PA.; and Donna, wife of deceased husband Robert Jones, Cape May Courthouse, NJ. Preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Stanton (WWII, U.S. Army Air Corps) and deceased wife Lucille (Lieb); Duane (WWII, U.S. Army Air Corps, 1944); Olene, wife of deceased husband James Jones; Velma, wife of deceased husband Ernie Banfield; Louise, wife of deceased husband, Robert Kline, both of Nicktown, PA; Claire, and deceased wife Betty (Angert), Williamstown, NJ. Edith is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. They are Jacqueline and husband Grant (Friday) III and children Megan, Madeline, and Grant IV; Jeannine and husband Chris (Yerkes) and children Emma and Maggie; Rachel and husband Nick (Bonfanti) and daughter Estelle; and Christopher Parrish and children Levi, Rachel, Benjamin, and Abraham; Nicholas and wife Camille (Cunningham) Parrish and children Luc, Ian, and Finnegan; Andrew and wife Diana (Ramello) Parrish and children Joseph, Michael, and Angelina; and Matthew and wife Nicole (Creamer) Parrish and children Nico and Aspen; and Jason and wife Julianne (Popp) Farabaugh and children Nicholas and Charlotte; Jeffrey and wife Lisa (Glinsky) Farabaugh and children Hannah and Andrew & wife Kelsey (McBryde), children Rowen and Gemma; Greg and wife Courtney (Wenditz) Farabaugh and son Noah; and Chad and wife Caitlin (Stashwick) Farabaugh and sons Sullivan and Owen; and Alyson and husband Geoff (Bayer) and children Jackson and Skye; Erin Parrish; Andrew and wife Erin (Uhler) Parrish and children Charlie, Ruby and Mabel; and Maggie and husband William (Davis). Edith worked at the Nicktown IGA while raising her family and later at Frank’s Jewelry Store in Penn Hills until retirement. She was well known for her sewing, quilts and doilies which, for many years, she placed in competition at the Cambria Couty Fair, donated to the Nicktown Labor Day Picnic, and gave to family members. She also baked bread for friends and neighbors, and the rectory. She and her husband, Merle, were also members of Saint Nicholas Church choir. Edith will be remembered for a life filled with warmth, creativity, and service to others. Above all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love formed the foundation of her family and whose presence brought comfort, guidance, and joy to generations. A gifted artisan, Edith found great joy in baking, sewing, crocheting, and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that will continue to comfort family and friends for years to come. Each stitch reflected her patience, care, and the profound love she had for those fortunate enough to receive these cherished gifts. A devoted member of the Saint Nicholas Church parish, Edith generously gave her time and energy in faithful service. Whether volunteering, participating in parish life, or offering quiet support to those in need, she was a steady source of strength, kindness, and compassion. Through her talents, generosity, and enduring faith, Edith leaves behind a legacy woven with love, shaped by creativity, and carried forward in the lives she touched. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Visitation will be held at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria on Monday, June 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00am Tuesday, June 16, at Saint Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. Father Jeremiah G. Lange OSB presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edith’s name can be made to the Sally Scholarship Fund at Saint Nicholas Catholic School P.O.
