Evelyn L. (Stuart) Fresh

FRESH, EVELYN L., 95, Nicktown, passed away December 8, 2021.  Born June 15, 1926, in Spangler, the daughter of Peter and Myrtle (Wyland) Stuart.  Preceded in death by parents; loving husband John J. Fresh, who died April 22, 1999; grandson, Jeff Strittmatter; daughter-in-law, Kathy Fresh; brother, Joseph Stuart and sister, Jean Miller.  Survived by children, Patrick Fresh, Nicktown; Denise (John) Strittmatter, Patton; John “Jack” (Mary Levan) Fresh, York; and Bruce (Linda) Fresh, Woodbridge, Virginia; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  Also survived by sisters, Ann (Len) Poliziani, Indiana; Dorie (Fred) Burkhart, Tallmadge, OH; Janet (Tony) Yannella, New Cumberland; and brother, James (Karen) Stuart, York; many nieces and nephews.  Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society.  Past member of Nicktown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.  “Ev” remained active through the years playing cinch, going to bingo, scratch-off lottery tickets, and word search books.  She enjoyed collecting Hummel Figurines.  Friends will be received from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 13, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.  Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown.  Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, PhD, celebrant.  Committal, church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to St. Nicholas Church Restoration Project, St. Nicholas Catholic School, or Bishop Carroll Catholic High School.
