CHUHRAN, GEORGE S. “Sam”, 83, Northern Cambria, passed away February 27, 2024, at home. Born August 21, 1940, in Spangler, the son of George T. and Mary (Collins) Chuhran. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Christi Hunter; grandson, Mark Vetock; sister, Mary Louise Schelfe, brothers, Ronald and Theodore Chuhran; and brother-in-law, Anthony Carino. Survived by loving wife of 58 years, Norma R. (Michaels) Chuhran; children, Georgette (Wayne) Vetock, Severn, MD; Greg (Darlene) Chuhran, Carrolltown; Amy (Michael) Miller, Hanover; son-in-law, Tom Hunter, State College; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Dolores Carino, Leechburg, PA. Retired coalminer from Greenwich Collieries. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Order of Alhambra, Hope Fire Company, and Northern Cambria Slovak Club. Social member of Barnesboro American Legion and Spangler VFW. In years past, Sam enjoyed attending many community events as “Chicken Man” with local WNCC radio station personalities. He and Norma also transformed into clowns “Pesty & Jingles” for charity events with the Order of Alhambra. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Football. In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and being at his camp in Bellefonte with his loved ones. At home he was also an avid gardener and was in his backyard every chance he got. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family and friends will be received from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Mark Groeger officiating. Committal, North Barnesboro Cemetery.
