HOLTZ, GERY 72,  Carrolltown, passed away April 4, 2022, in Florida.  Born January 28, 1950, in Spangler, the son of Bernard and Leona (Bender) Holtz.  Preceded in death by parents; wife, Barbara (Sibert) Holtz; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet & Edward Gregory and Carol & James Constant; and brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Joan Holtz.  Survived by siblings, Ken (Carol) Holtz, Patton; Bill Holtz, Ebensburg; Kathie (Ron) Johnson, Carrolltown; Linda (Bill) Miller, DE; and Joyce (Ken) Eckenrode, Carrolltown.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he enjoyed spending time with.  US Air Force Veteran serving as a Sergeant stationed in Korea.  After returning from his service in the Air Force, Gery worked with his father at Holtz Saddle Co. in Carrolltown, taking over as the owner upon his dad’s retirement.  In the local community Gery was a member of the Ebensburg Country Club, Carrolltown Fireman’s Club, Carrolltown American Legion Post 506, and St. Benedict VFW Post 7783.  Friendly by nature, Gery enjoyed meeting people wherever he went.  He spent his free time playing golf with his buddies and his special golf partner, Anne Farabaugh.   During the last several years, Gery spent his winters in the Fort Myers, FL, area where he had many friends. He kept busy there as a volunteer in a local soup kitchen, and meeting friends for drinks and dinner at Marinatown.  He enjoyed visits from his sisters, Kathie, Joyce and brother-in-law Ken, and several close friends during his time in Florida.  His smile and stories will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Friends will be received from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 Bigler Avenue, Northern Cambria.  A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown.  Military honors by local veteran’s organizations.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gery’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
