BIROS, HELEN ANN, 92, Northern Cambria, passed away September 4, 2023, at Conemaugh Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born January 25, 1931, in Spangler, the daughter of Andrew and Anna (Tkac) Biros Sr. Preceded in death by parents, siblings, Annie Biros, Mary Petrisko, Verna Biros, Andy Biros, Helen Biros, Verna Costello, John Biros, Mike Biros, Joe Biros; and son-in-law, Robert Benamati. Survived by daughter, Carol A. Benamati, Northern Cambria; grandsons, Robert R. (Carole) Benamati, Sellersville; John A. Benamati, Heilwood; great-grandchildren, Anthony Benamati and Jacqueline Benamati, Sellersville; Amanda and Rebecca Benamati, Britt Baum, all of Northern Cambria; great-grandchildren, Louis and Gabriella Soja. Caregivers and neighbors that became family, Lisa Eller, Dorothy Kerr, Chris and Sue Hoover, and Jackie Greer. Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Formerly employed as a Sewing Machine operator for the Barnesboro Shirt Company. Helen was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and served many roles in the church throughout her life including singing in the choir, member of the Ladies Guild, and ran their church Bingo for nearly 60 years. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria. Helen loved dancing to polka music and going to bingo. She was often referred to as “The Lady with the hat”. Above all she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was happiest surrounded by her family. Helen will be missed by all that knew her. Family and friends will be received 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2023 and 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria with funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Northern Cambria. Father Mark Groeger officiating. Interment, St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.
