HOLTZ, HENRY I., 84, Hastings, passed away January 4, 2021, one week after his 84th birthday. Born December 28, 1936, in Susquehanna Twp., the youngest of nine children born to Isadore and Kathryn (Anna) Holtz. Henry grew up and spent many years living in the family’s Sears & Roebuck home built by his father and uncles. A 1954 graduate of Spangler High School, he continued his education earning a Machinist Apprentice degree while working for General Electric in Ohio. In December, 1959, he enlisted in the Ohio National Guard, serving with Company C , 112th Engineer Battalion. He received an honorable discharge in 1962. Henry was a quiet man (depending on who he talked to!), was an auto enthusiast who owned many cars and enjoyed taking them to shows—His favorites, however, were convertibles, and he once said “It was the feeling of the wind blowing around him…” Henry and his siblings were raised with a strong faith in God and as devout Catholics, he and his family donated generously to their community and many national causes. The family wishes to send a special thanks to Tiffany, who did a hard job with compassion and respect. Honoring Henry’s wishes there will be no viewing or visitation. Family and friends are invited to Memorial Mass which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery.
