Herbert "Butch" Kirsch

KIRSCH, HERBERT “Butch”, 80, Northern Cambria, passed away April 21, 2026, at UPMC Altoona Hospital, Altoona.  Born May 11, 1945, in Spangler, the son of Herbert and Mary Lou (Ramsey) Kirsch.  Preceded in death by parents; wife, Janice (Rosen) Kirsch; sons, Christopher and James Kirsch; brother, Theodore Kirsch, and sister-in-law, Jackie Kirsch.  Survived by daughters, Christa (Joseph) Kibler; Elizabeth “Lizzy” Augustine; and Nicole “Niki” Kirsch, all of Patton.  Brother of Marylou “Sis” Fees, Carrolltown; Donna (Edward) Owens, Carrolltown; Frank Kirsch, Elmora; Susie Cymbor, Carrolltown; John (Robin) Kirsch, Indiana; Joann (Tim) Farabaugh; Bruce Kirsch; David “Cricket” Kirsch, all of Carrolltown.  Also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown.  Former owner and operator of Kirsch’s Sew and Sweep Shop in Carrolltown for many years, where he loved to socialize, visit with anyone who walked through the door, and was always willing to repair just about anything.  He and his wife, Janice, enjoyed traveling together and exploring destinations all over the world.  He cherished conversations with family, especially reminiscing about the old times.  Butch held a deep devotion to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, which he faithfully prayed each day at 3:00 p.m.  Family and friends will be received Friday, April 24, 2026 in the St. Boniface Wimmer room of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Carrolltown, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.,  Father Michael Gabler, O.S.B., celebrant.  Interment, St. Benedict Cemetery.
