SMITH, IRVIN J.,83, Nicktown, passed away November 24, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born September 11, 1942, in Nicktown, the son of Jerome and Rita (McConnell) Smith. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife, Lucille (Davis) Smith, who died October 31, 2021; daughter, Lori Smith; brother, Archibald Smith; and sisters Ellen Bauer and Eileen Evans. Survived by children, Jeff Smith (Laura), Nicktown; Mark (Pamela) Smith, Loretto; Brenda (Dean) Weaver, Halifax, PA; Kerry (Rose) Smith, Nicktown; grandchildren, Benjamin, Chad, Patrick, Jacob, Joshua, Christopher, Victoria, Timothy, and Briana; and great-grandson, John. Brother of Frances Lee, Cresson; Darlene Klatt, Sidman; Geraldine Thomas, Altoona; Leo Smith, Roger Smith, and James Smith, all of Nicktown; Jerome “Homer” Smith, Loretto; and Grace LaRue, Cresson. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown, and the Holy Name Society. Retired coal truck driver and member of UMWA. Irvin was a hard worker all his life, had a love of tractors, and enjoyed family campfires around his fire ring which included his children, extended family, and special nephew, Joe, with whom he shared a close bond. He adored all of his grandchildren and was especially thrilled with his great-grandson. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc, Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, PhD, celebrant. Interment, St. Nicholas Cemetery.
