James Lutch Obituary

LUTCH, JAMES M. SR., 86, Northern Cambria, passed away July 8, 2024, at home.  Born January 6, 1938, in Spangler, the last surviving member of the John and Susan (Tinik) family.  Preceded in death by siblings, Paul, George, William, John “Jack”, Francis “Bucky”, Joe "Pepsi" and Helen Lutch.  Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Linda (Konitsky) Lutch; children, Justine (Tim) Fulginiti, West Chester; James Jr. “Jamie” Lutch, Northern Cambria; Melinda (George) Sherry, Ebensburg; and grandchildren, Timothy “TJ” and Brianna Fulginiti, Taylor, Emma and Bella Sherry, and Logan and Lakin Lutch.  US Army Veteran.  Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  Retired from Bethlehem Mines # 32 & 33 and later worked many years for Marshall Construction.  Jim enjoyed being active in the local community and earned the status of life member of the Spangler Fire Company.  He was also a member of Cambria County Regional Firefighters and Central District Volunteer Firemen’s Association.  As a member of the former Spangler Sportsman’s Club, he served as a cook and worked many years for their community events.  An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also raised and trained beagles to hunt rabbits.  He was passionate about his garden and worked all through the year starting his own plants from seeds to grow his famous tomatoes and many other delicious vegetables that he shared with family and friends.  He enjoyed attending many area festivals, listening to music and dancing to polkas.   Above all, Jim was a devoted family man, loving husband, father and grandfather.  He was guided by his deep faith in God and love of family.   He was a kind and generous man and a friend to all.  Family and friends will be received from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2024, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.  A prayer service will be held at 5:30 p.m. with Fr. Mark Groeger.   Military honors by local veterans.  Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery.   The family wishes to extend a special note of thanks to family members Denny & Nancy Marshall and Janice Miller who were unwavering in their help and assistance during his illness, it was with their constant support Jim was able to remain home with family.
