WHOLAVER, JANET M., 85, Hastings, passed away January 30, 2026. Born October 1, 1940, in Spangler, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Rosaline (Fiasco) Shupienus. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, William C. Wholaver Sr., who died July 4, 2019; daughter, Rosemarie Smarsh; sons-in-law, William Smarsh and Wilfred McCombie, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Wholaver. Survived by children, James (Liz) Wholaver, St. Mary’s; Randy (Dawn) Wholaver, Walton Hills, OH; Laura McCombie, Hastings; Wayne (Annette) Wholaver, Hastings; and William Jr. (Lisa) Wholaver, Patton. Also known as “Nana” to 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She is the sister of Richard Shupienus, Northern Cambria; Charles (Ann) Shupienus, Alexandria, VA; and Judy Stossel, Martinsburg, PA. Janet cherished her role as loving wife, mother, and grandmother with family always her priority. She loved her large family and eagerly anticipated the times when everyone could gather celebrating holidays, and special moments in each other’s lives. Her life was built on a foundation of deep faith in God which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a former member of the Hastings Methodist Church before becoming a member of Cross Cut Church. Janet was formerly employed as a clerk at Topshop Supermarket and Uni-Mart in Hastings and worked at H&R Block of Northern Cambria. She will be deeply missed. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. Northern Cambria. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Cross Cut Church. Pastor David Stains officiating. Committal, Union Cemetery.
