KUZIO, JOHN J., 75, Northern Cambria, passed away November 14, 2021, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born May 30, 1946, in Spangler, the son of Michael and Veronica (Oravetz) Kuzio. Preceded in death by parents, and brother Joseph Kuzio. Survived by loving wife of 44 years, Betty (Bell) Kuzio; children, Matthew Kuzio, Northern Cambria; Dana (Michael) Vislosky, Northern Cambria; Melissa (Jeffrey) Thompson, Clearfield; Robert (Alyssa) Kuzio, St. Benedict; Maria Kuzio, Lancaster; Monica (Mark Jr.) Ludwig, Northern Cambria; and grandchildren, Peyton Kuzio; Gabby Stevens, Noah, Adam and Ellie Vislosky; Olivia and McKenzie Kuzio; and Danny & Sammy Ludwig. Also survived by a brother, Michael (Jean) Kuzio, Altoona; and sister, Elizabeth Lechene, Bakerton. 1964 graduate of Cambria Heights High School. John was drafted in the US Army in 1966, serving honorably for two years, achieving the rank of SPC-5 as an intelligence analyst during Vietnam. He shared with his children many stories of his experience during these years, impacting them and providing cherished memories. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. He worked 23 years as a coal miner and later retired as a PA State Mine Inspector. A member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown and the Holy Name Society. John lived his life guided by his faith, a selfless man who put the needs of others always before his own. Meticulous and hardworking, he devoted himself to the service of others. He found great joy in gardening. He spent his final days surrounded by his loving family, assured he returns home to Christ because of the Catholic faith he lived and shared with others. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his values, living better lives through his example. He will be deeply missed. Family and friends will be received from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, November 18, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc, Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, PhD, celebrant. Committal, St. Nicholas Cemetery.
