ROPCHOCK, JACK A. “Ropey”, 85, Northern Cambria, passed away January 21, 2024, at the home of his daughter, Charlene, in Williamsport. Born August 27, 1938, in Barnesboro, the son of George and Mary (Chernisky) Ropchock. Preceded in death by parents; several brothers, and son-in-law, James Boring. Survived by daughters, Kimberly (Joe) Farley, Williamsport; Charlene Boring, Williamsport; and son, John (Peggy) Ropchock, Cherry Tree; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister, Darlene Laney, Indiana. US Army Veteran and member of the Spangler American Legion Post 569. Retired coal miner. Ropey loved the outdoors and hunting, he continued to get his hunting license even though he could no longer make the journey into the woods. He was a hard worker and loved to chop and stack wood. Above all he was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his family and spending time with them. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria from 4:00 p.m. until time of services at 6:00 p.m. Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, PhD officiating. Military honors by local veterans. Jack will be laid to rest in a national military cemetery alongside his brothers who were also veterans.
