Joshua A. Wholaver

WHOLAVER, JOSHUA A., 43, Hastings, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at Haida Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Hastings.  Born March 7, 1983, in Altoona, the son of James and Sharon (Markel) Wholaver.  Preceded in death by mother, Sharon (Markel) Wholaver; maternal grandmother, Violet Krampen; and paternal grandparents, William “Bud” and Janet Wholaver.  Survived by father, James (Liz) Wholaver, St. Mary’s and sister, Charlene Wholaver, Hastings; step-sisters, Jenifer (Josh) Shelander; and Ashlee (Michael) Stefano.  Also survived by nieces, Isabella, Jordan, Kendall; and  nephews, Emmet and Mikey; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and devoted caregivers.  Member of Beaverdale Christian Missionary Alliance Church and Cross Cut Church.  Josh was a truly special young man whose smile could light up any room.  Known for giving the very best hugs, he never met a stranger and touched countless lives with his kindness, warmth, and loving heart.  Josh loved wrestling and especially cherished the accomplishment of earning his wrestling belt, something he was incredibly proud of.  He also enjoyed participating in Miracle League Baseball and bowling, where his enthusiasm and joyful spirit made every game memorable.  Above all, Josh treasured his family.  He shared an especially close bond with his sister, and the two were truly inseparable.  Whether spending time together, laughing, or simply enjoying each other’s company, their connection was one filled with unconditional love and friendship.  He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, friendly personality, and the happiness he brought to so many people.  Family and friends will be received Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.  Pastor Laura McCombie officiating.  Committal, Dunlo United Methodist Cemetery.
