MUIR, KAREN S., 80, Cherry Tree, passed away September 15, 2023, at home. Born February 14, 1943, in Patton, the daughter of Leonard and Mary (Krise) Baker. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John D. “Jack” Muir, who died in 1979; grandson, Malachi Calvetti; brothers, Leonard, Blaine, Eugene, and Randy Baker and sister, Dorothy Baker. Survived by daughters, Cynthia, wife of Richard Broxie, Pittsburgh; Sandra, wife of James Platt, Altoona; and Patricia, wife of Todd Boring, Cherry Tree; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Sister of Richard Baker, PA; Linda Davis, VA; and Pamela Kauffman, PA. Retired Financial Analyst for Southern Alleghenies Planning Commission. Formerly employed by Miners Hospital. Member of Cookport Baptist Church. Karen was happiest spending time with her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her Brooks family grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed building puzzles, doing genealogy research, and being with her dog. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at Kinport Assembly of God Church from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Thomas Manning officiating. Interment, St. John Cemetery, Northern Cambria.
