SHUTTY-SWARTZ, KATHY (Kemock), 66, Hastings, went to be with her Lord & Savior on March 2, 2025.  Born August 31, 1958, in Spangler, the daughter of Mike and Catherine (Verchick) Kemock.  Preceded in death by parents; first husband, Ronald Shutty; sister-in-law, Janice Deetscreek; brothers-in-law, Larry Swartz, Paul Shutty and Stephen Simasek; and nephew, Todd Shutty.  Survived by loving husband of 17 years; Brian Swartz; loving sons and their spouses, Chad (Christa) Shutty, Luke (Regina Hartman) Shutty, Sam (Erin) Shutty; Michael (Katie) Swartz; 13 beautiful grandchildren and one adorable great-granddaughter.  Also survived by siblings, Connie (Corky) Venslosky, Michael (Theresa) Kemock, Christine (Scot) Shook; sisters & brothers-in-law, Madeline (Robert) Martinazzi, Debra Swartz, Nancy (Donald) Thomas, Raymond (Laurie) Swartz, Linda (Gregory) Lonesky, Barry (Judy) Deetscreek, Brenda (James) Mackanick, Susan (Glen) Calender, Lori Oldham, Lisa Simasek, Walter and Karen Shutty and Sandy Shutty. Kathy was a kind and caring person by nature and worked as a nurse’s aide at HAIDA Manor for 20 years.  With the help of UMWA Dist. 2, Kathy was able to return to school and graduate as a Licensed Practical Nurse.  She then worked as an LPN in the long-term care field at several nursing homes including Indian Haven and Laurel Crest (Cambria Care).  She retired in 2021 after working ten years at Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home.  She considered it a great honor to care for our nation’s veterans and their spouses.  Kathy was impacted in her career by an instructor who stressed “Never leave your patient in pain” and by an administrator from a facility where she worked who instilled “Always be kind to those you serve”.   A member of Nanty Glo Christian Missionary Alliance Church. In her free time, she enjoyed being outside doing yardwork and gardening, reading and watching TV, and her bunnies.   She was happiest spending time with her family.   Family and friends will be received at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, Friday, March 14, from 10:00 a.m. until time, of service at 11:00 a.m.  Pastor Russ Havener officiating and services by Cambria County Nurse’s Honor Guard.
