HARCHICK, KENNETH J., 79, Westover, passed away March 7, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 9, 1945, in Spangler, the last surviving member of the Joseph and Ethel (Sackash) Harchick family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by siblings, Dolores Penkosky, Joseph and Eugene Harchick. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Joyce (Ondecko) Harchick; daughter, Jennifer Harchick, Alexandria, VA; son, Kenneth A. Harchick, husband of Jennifer Zeanchock, Hastings; and grandchildren, Alaina Corio and Sawyer Harchick. Ken was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Retired member of UMWA Construction Workers Union and former US Postal Service rural carrier. He loved the outdoors, working around his home, gardening and cutting trees. He was an avid hunter and loved the peacefulness of being in the woods. Above all, he was a loving and devoted husband and father, but it was being “PAPA” that was his greatest joy and time with the family meant the most to him. Ken endured the struggles of a long battle with esophageal cancer, surviving 19 years after the diagnosis; but was determined to live life to the fullest along the way, encouraging others to keep fighting and never give up. His deep faith and spirit were his guiding force. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Mark Groeger, officiating. Committal, East Ridge Cemetery. Military honors by local veterans organizations.
