WEILAND, LEONARD J., 78, Nicktown, passed away December 4, 2021, at home. Born April 27, 1943, in Cameron's Bottom, the son of George and Josephine (Kline) Weiland. Preceded in death by parents; brother Francis Weiland; brother-in-law, Leonard Hogue; and sisters-in-law, Tillie and Cindy Weiland. Survived by loving wife of 57 years, Maureen (Lonergan) Weiland; sons, Daniel Weiland, Lenny (Marca) Weiland, and John Weiland (Priscilla), all of Nicktown; daughters, Erin (Mark) Mosley, Altoona; and Becky Weimer (Kenny), Carrolltown; grandchildren, Olivia, Adam, Garrett (Hillary), Hannah (Ben), Eli (Tiffany), Johnny and Bron; and great-grandchildren, Harper and Jameson. He is sadly missed by “Chip”, his beloved dog. Brother of Shirley Hogue, Loretto; George Weiland, Northern Cambria; Marge (Andy) Antolik, Indiana; Vincent Weiland, Revloc; and sister-in-law, Martha Weiland, Nicktown. Member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown. Retired coalminer. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather he enjoyed having his family around him often. Through the years, being active and having fun with the grandchildren while teaching them many skills was a priority, and his great-grandchildren were a great joy. He was happiest spending time in the outdoors and at his camp fishing and hunting. Friends will be received from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Fr. Jeremiah Lange, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Nicholas Cemetery.
