RIVA, LOUIS B., 72, Patton, formerly of Northern Cambria, passed away February 18, 2025, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings. Born August 31, 1952, in Spangler, the son of Louis and Anna (Lescinsky) Riva. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Bernardine Lauer and Mary Lou Shortencarrier; and brother-in-law, Joseph Lauer. Survived by sisters, Joan (Jim) Connors, Olney, MD; Dolores (Joe) Trentini, Johnstown; brother-in-law, Bill Shortencarrier, Hastings; and nine nieces and nephews. Lou was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he sang in the choir and volunteered at the church festival. 1972 graduate of Northern Cambria High School. Lou worked many years at Laurel Crest Manor as a nurse’s aide and patient transporter. He enjoyed watching baseball games in the summer from his front porch on Chestnut Avenue, attending local firemen’s festivals and attending Northern Cambria High School sporting events rooting on his beloved Colts. He also enjoyed weekly visits to the Prince Gallitzin State Park campground with his sister and her family. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Church. Fr. Mark Groeger officiating. Committal, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Hope Fire Company.
