Louise M. (Holtz) Bearer

BEARER, LOUISE MARIE (Holtz), 92, Hastings, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on July 13, 2023, at HAIDA Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.  Born September 25, 1930, in Susquehanna Twp., the daughter of Charles and Marie (Lantzy) Holtz.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Leo, who died in 2009; infant son, Joseph; sisters, Alice Jodon and Edna Kirkpatrick; and brother, Francis Holtz.  Survived by children:  Evelyn (Ray) DeMasters, South Carolina; Martha, Hastings; Pauline (Joe) Formeck, Northern Cambria; Patty (Jack) Hicks Jr., Northern Cambria; Edward, Hastings; Robert (Diane), Virginia; Nancy (Glenn) Baker, Hastings; Irene, Hastings; Dan (Stefanie), Oil City; Andrew (Dawn), Ebensburg; George (Marie), Massachusetts; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.  Also survived by sister, Doris Nocek, Hollidaysburg; brother, Charles (Barbara) Holtz, Northern Cambria; Leo (MaryAnn) Holtz, Coalport; sister-in-law, Cathy Holtz, Hastings; and numerous nieces, nephews, and godchildren.  Louise was a lifetime member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Hastings.  Together with her husband, they raised their children guided by their deep faith in God and strong family values.  Having been raised on a farm herself, she was happiest working alongside them on their family farm, and we are assured she and dad are together again, happily riding their tractor in Heaven.  Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She enjoyed watching them participate in activities—the older ones in band and the younger ones and grandchildren in sports and band.  She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates.    Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 17, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, and at St. Bernard’s Church on Tuesday, July 18, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with funeral mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.  Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB celebrant.  Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Sisters of St. Joseph, 1020 State St., Baden, PA  15005.
