HOOVER, LUCILLE E., 97, Hastings, passed away December 10, 2023, at St. Benedict Manor. Born February 1, 1926, in Spangler, the daughter of Jacob and Lucy (McCarty) Kirsch. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, Joseph Hoover, who died March 20, 2007; sons Raymond and Leonard Hoover; daughter, Karen Hoover; granddaughter Alissa; step-grandson, Devin Dickert; brothers, Gerald, Irvin, Richard, Vincent, Florentz, Max, and James Kirsch; and sisters, Camilla Wolfe and Jeanie Kirsch. Survived by children, Eugene Hoover (Terri Lewis), Chest Springs; Patrick (Penny) Hoover, Loretto; David (Susan) Hoover, Chest Springs; Daniel (Mary) Hoover, Burlington, KY; Janet (Jeffrey) Strittmatter, Ebensburg; Marian (Gary) Filkins, Northern Cambria; Eileen (Michael) Paul, Irwin; Evelyn M. (James) Haggerty, Johnstown; and Pauline (Randy) Slovikosky, Gallitzin; daughter-in-law, Carol Hoover, Loretto; She was blessed with many grandchildren and doubly blessed with numerous great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Anna Mae Knechtel, FL; Ruth (Ed) Born, Hastings; Timothy Kirsch, Indianapolis; and sisters-in-law, Diana and Louise Kirsch. She will be remembered fondly by her numerous nieces and nephews. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings, Lucille was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a staunch pro-life supporter. She made her family her priority and enjoyed baking and sewing in her free time. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the devoted caregivers both at home and at St. Benedict Manor.
