Marcus Beach Obituary

Marcus “Marc” “Pappy” Richard Beach, 66, died peacefully at home with family by his side on March 10th, 2021 after courageously battling lung cancer.  Born on December 17th, 1954 in Roaring Spring, son of Donna (Hamm) Beach and the late Jessie Richard “Dick” Beach.  His wife Mary Jane “Janie” Beach (Smith) survives him along with his two children, Jarrett Beach (Tara Bracken) of Hastings and Jennifer (Trevor) Allen of Spokane, Washington; eight grandchildren, Levi Cruz, Gavin Boring, Takota Bracken, Avery and Peter Allen, Hendrix and Zoe Beach and Rosalind Allen.  Brother of Victor (Kathy) Beach, Wesley (Theresa) Beach and Nan Beach, all of Hastings.  Also survived by many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceding him in death is his step-son Joel Abrams.

Marc graduated from Cambria Heights High School in 1972 and from Penn State in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Arts Education and then again in 2011 with a Master’s Degree in Workforce Education and Development.

After graduating from Penn State with his Bachelor’s degree Marc was the owner of Beach Ford Mercury Yamaha and Spangler Cycle Sales in Northern Cambria.  Throughout his life Marc worked along his father as an electrician for J. R. Beach Electrical Contractor before opening up his own electrical business under Beach Electrical Services.  After owning the automotive and cycle dealership, Marc returned to academia where he was a Technology Instructor (Shop Teacher) for Westmont Hilltop High School.  Marc was also the Cooperative Education Coordinator for the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology center.  Helping others was a must for Marc and he was very community oriented; wanting and striving for the best for all of those around him.

Although Marc was a hard worker, he also enjoyed his hobbies and spending time with his family.  Marc enjoyed metal working, masonry, cabinet making, automotive restoration, golfing, target shooting, and hunting.  Being in the woods hunting was where Marc loved to be and he was a member of Hastings Area Industrial Development Association, Rembrandt Sportsman Club, Moss Creek Rod and Gun Club, as well as the Laurel Mountain Rifle League.

If Marc was not in the woods or working, he was with his family.  Marc took great pleasure in attending Jarrett’s many hockey games and seeing him follow in the family trade as an electrician.  Marc always made time to visit Jennifer and always smiled when he spoke of their cross-country trip together.

However, the true gem of his life was his grandchildren.  Marc will be greatly missed by those who loved him and cared about him.

Friends will be received from 2:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc. Northern Cambria.  Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Fr.
