Marie E. Wojno

WOJNO, MARIE E., 89, Hastings, passed away July 9, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born January 27, 1934, in Philipsburg, the daughter of Camille and Irene (Stewart) Tubo.  Preceded in death by parents; son, John Wojno Jr.; grandson, Joshua Cunningham; brothers, Camey, Thomas and James Tubo; and sister, Betty Wojno.  Survived by loving husband, John “Gooch” Wojno, Hastings; daughters, Joan (John) Kordish, Emeigh and Darla Wojno (Mike Filkins), Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Robert) Lihvarchik, State College; Heather (Duane) Frantz, Halifax; Heidi Wojno, Lancaster; Eric Cunningham, Northern Cambria; Leah Cunningham, Emeigh; Isaiah and Sirach Bice, both of Tucson; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Smith, North Fork, ID and Mia Laverick, Northern Cambria.  Sister of Janet Rematt, Carrolltown, Cathy (Ray) Wilson, Damascus, MD; Ron (Mary) Tubo, Hastings; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Marie and her husband of 69 years loved to travel the country in their camper, often taking their grandchildren along on these adventures.  She made sure to always make special treats for each family member she was planning to see.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always there with love and support for her children.  In her free time, she enjoyed shopping with her sisters, playing cards with family and their annual beach vacations.  After her diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease, she was able to remain at home under the loving care of her husband and daughters with the support of several caregivers. The Wojno family wishes to express their deep gratitude to these special people, Theresa Beckel, Janice Hollen, and niece, Michelle Edwards.  A special thanks also to Nikki Conrad, Kristen Smith, and the entire staff of Penn Hospice for their compassion and kindness throughout her illness.  Honoring her wishes,  there will be no public visitation or services.  Interment, East Ridge Cemetery.  Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
