SLAVIK, MARY E., 80, Northern Cambria, passed away June 22, 2024, at home. Born October 1, 1943, in Connecticut, the daughter of George and Mary (Gaydos) Janosko. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Richard D. Slavik. Survived by daughters, Dr. Gretchen (Dwayne) Platt, Somerset; Andrea (Justin) Fennell, Ford City; Christine (John “J.D.”) Schirato, Salix; Julianna Slavik, Somerset; Stephanie (Steven) Boucher, Frederick, MD and grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan, Caleb, Benjamin, Lillian, Christopher, Addison, Alexander, Victoria, and Nicholas. Also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Slavik. Mary attended Conemaugh School of Nursing in 1964 earning her license as a Registered Nurse. Working most of her career at Miners Hospital as an Operating Room nurse. She then retired as a home health nurse. Member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and an active member for St. Vincent De Paul Society for many years. Mary was an avid lover of animals, especially her dog LuLu. She enjoyed traveling with her husband after retirement. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, she will be deeply missed. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., June 27, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Fr. Thaddeus Rettger, OSB, celebrant. Committal, St. Bernard Cemetery.
