MILLER, MERLE A., 104, Carrolltown, passed away peacefully at his son’s home, surrounded by his loving family on March 26, 2026. Born January 7, 1922, the last surviving member of Anicetus L. and Grace M. (Lauer) Miller family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Ruth (Link) Miller; great-grandson, Dustin Miller; daughter-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Miller; siblings, Vernon and Al Miller, Naomi Swanson, Inez Weakland, and Velma Behrendt. Survived by sons, Kenneth Miller (Angie), Johnstown; Lawrence Miller (JoAnne), Columbia; Harry (Patricia) Miller, St. Benedict; Kevin (Elizabeth) Miller, Ebensburg; and Dale (Judy) Miller, Crainsville. Also survived by eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Lifetime member and devoted elder of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Carrolltown, Merle lived his faith through service, humility, and community involvement. He began his working life as a farmer, tending the land with dedication and even grinding chop for local farmers. Later, he went on to work as a crane operator and welder for Bethlehem Steel, where he was known for his strong work ethic and steady hands. Merle had a natural curiosity and a love for life that drew people to him. He had a special passion for airplanes and could often be found watching, reading about, or talking enthusiastically about them. He also enjoyed round dancing at Sunset Ballroom, a pastime that brought him joy, laughter, and lifelong friendships. Above all, Merle loved connecting with others, he never met a stranger and could spark a conversation with anyone, always leaving them with a smile. Living to 104, he was known as a man who never stopped working hard, always finding strength and meaning in a day’s work. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 30, 2026, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, and on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in the St. Boniface Wimmer of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Carrolltown, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Father Michael Gabler, O.S.B., celebrant. Interment, St. Benedict Cemetery.
