KORDISH, MICHAEL, 74, Hastings, passed away June 9, 2021, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born April 26, 1947, in Spangler, the son of Alex and Mary (Bearer) Kordish. Preceded in death by parents; son, Joseph Kordish; and brother, Dennis. Survived by loving wife of 54 years, Janet (Stoltz) Kordish; children, Richard (Konnie) Kordish, Sterling, VA; Mark (Laurie) Kordish, Dysart; Jennifer (Ronald) Nealen, Hastings; Michael Jr. (Jennifer) Kordish, Ashburn, VA; Eric Kordish, Hastings; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Brother of Richard Kordish, Emeigh; Thomas (Zenda) Kordish, Hastings; Olivia (Christopher) Trimpey, Suffolk, VA; and John (Joan) Kordish, Emeigh. US Navy Veteran. Retired coal miner from Florence Mines and member of UMWA. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church where he was an active volunteer for many years. Mike was well known in the community and always available to lend a hand to family, friend, and neighbors. A devoted husband and father, he cherished being a part of the lives of his children and grandchildren. Large family gatherings bringing everyone together at their home were the times he and Janet enjoyed the most. Friends will be received from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Fr. Matthew Baum officiating. Military honors by local veteran’s organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Disabled Veterans or Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
