PLATKO, MICHAEL J., 56, Nicktown, passed away December 23, 2024, at home. Born June 8, 1968, in Spangler, the son of James and Margaret (Kibler) Platko. Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Steven and Larry Platko. Survived by loving wife, Christine A. (Shero) Platko, sons, Joshua M. Platko (Megan Baum), Nicktown; James D. Platko (Olivia Warner), Cherry Tree; and daughter, Krista L. Platko (Aiden Rezk), Nicktown; and grandson, Elijah Michael Platko arriving in February 2025. Brother of Donald (Maria) Platko, Belton, TX; James Platko, Northern Cambria; John Platko and Joan Platko, both of Nicktown; Mary Varner, Northern Cambria; and sister-in-law, Loraine Platko, Dubois. Also, nieces and nephews. Mike was employed as a welder for Boilermakers Local 154 and formerly Freight Car America in Johnstown. He was an active member of the Rusty Nutz Car Club and most proud of his 1946 International Truck. He also enjoyed buggy riding, woodworking, and music—especially acoustic and classic rock. He loved to cook and host barbeques, always the life of the party, and always “busting” on his friends and family. He had a kind and generous spirit, and he regularly volunteered to cook for area fundraising dinners. Above everything else, it was time with his family that was the most important thing in his life. Honoring his wishes there will be no public visitation or services. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be announced at a later date. Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.
