Monica Lantzy Obituary

LANTZY, MONICA A., 71, of St. Benedict, passed away on June 20, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.  Born March 10, 1954, in Baraga, MI, she was the daughter of the late William and Roberta (Miesbaur) Vadnais.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 22 years, Kenneth Lantzy of St. Benedict; her children, Jasper Giddings of St. Benedict; and Koren Giddings of Winston-Salem, NC; and her beloved grandchildren, Skye Dachs-Giddings of Marquette, MI; and Stella Giddings of Winston-Salem, NC.  Monica was the cherished sister of Dwight (Sherri) Johnson of Marquette, MI; Mary (Joseph) Glasson of Houghton, MI; Patricia (Michael) Gauthier of Baraga, MI; Dale Vadnais of Marquette, MI; Carol (John) Sterbenz of Aura, MI; Glen (Marlene) Vadnais of Troy, MI; and Jane (Chuck) Thelen of Ovid, MI.  She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church.  Monica accomplished so much in her life.  She worked her way up to become a sales manager at the Ramada Inn and proudly broke barriers as the first female president of the Kiwanis Club.  She also was a Realtor in Pennsylvania and served her community on the St. Benedict Water Authority, always ready to lend a hand or a strong opinion when needed.  But her real magic was in the everyday moments, crocheting masterpieces in her sleep, baking, and playing cards with just enough sass (especially when she wasn’t winning).  She loved to travel with her husband Ken, always chasing the next view, the next laugh, or the next adventure.  Monica had a rare gift for making people feel like family.  Whether you were in her kitchen, her garden, or just passing by, you were welcomed with warmth, a quick joke, and probably something homemade.  Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.  Just about everyone who knew her, she was simply “Gram,” giving the best hugs, cookies, and perfectly timed punchlines.  Monica lived with a full heart, a quick wit, and a contagious laugh.  And somewhere out there between dances, she’s still cracking jokes, probably with a coffee in one hand and a crochet hook in the other.  She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and lovingly remembered every time we laugh a little louder, hug a little tighter, or sneak dessert before dinner, just like she would’ve wanted.  Family and friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria.  Father Michael Gabler, officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to contribute toward one last grand adventure, helping fulfill Monica’s final wish to be laid to rest in her cherished hometown, and to ease the burden of her remaining medical expenses.  https://gofund.me/3585627a
