WADIUM, MONICA E., 88, Northern Cambria, passed away December 18, 2023, at Miners Medical Center, Hastings.  Born October 25, 1935, in Barnesboro, the daughter of Stephen P. and Mary M. (Simo) Sedlock.  Preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew P. Wadium Sr., who died December 11, 2020; grandson, Daniel Read; and siblings, Rev. Stephen J. Sedlock, C.S.C. and Ramona Murphy.  Survived by daughters, Stephanie, wife of Alan Read, Irmo, SC; Michele Wadium, Harrisburg; and Elizabeth, wife of Stephen Capelli, Alexandria, VA; and son, Andrew P. Wadium Jr., New York, NY; and grandchildren, Rachel Read, Morgan Mawhinney, and Francesca Capelli.  Also survived by her brother, Regis (Kathy) Sedlock, Cleveland Heights, OH.  Lifelong member of former St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, now Prince of Peace.  Monica was a 1953 graduate of Barnesboro High School and a graduate of Mt. Aloysius College, Medical Secretarial Program.  She thoroughly enjoyed her collegiate experience and excelled in her typing, shorthand, and business classes.  She worked for medical practices in the Pittsburgh and Altoona areas then worked for nearly 25 years for the Commonwealth of PA Unemployment Office where she helped thousands of local residents secure jobs and benefits within the state.  She loved dancing, going to movies in Barnesboro, church festivals, and Glenn Miller music.  A devout Catholic all her life, she and her husband Andrew raised their family guided by their strong faith in God.  While raising her children, she served as caretaker to her mother and her Aunt Annie as they aged.  She volunteered her time as a religious education teacher for Prince of Peace Church.  Monica attended bible study classes and assembled a collection of spiritual volumes which she studied.  A Graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024 at North Barnesboro Cemetery.   Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Monica to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 811 Chestnut Avenue, Northern Cambria, PA 15714, please mail donations to the church and indicate the donation is for educational materials for their religious education program.
