PENKSA, NANCY MARIE, 89, Cherry Tree, passed away June 27, 2026, at Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana. Born July 4, 1936, in Alverda, daughter of Clyde and Agnes (Downey) Stiles. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband, John A. Penksa Jr., who died June 6, 1982; siblings, Jesse Stiles, Russell (Edith) Stiles, Carl (Helen) Stiles, Harry Stiles, Dale Stiles, Robert Stiles, Raymond Stiles and infant sisters, Mabel and Edna Stiles; and granddaughter, Kristen Nelson. Survived by daughters, Rose Ann (Kenneth) Charney, Northern Cambria; Helen Barbara Penksa-Harding (Steven), Gilbert, AZ; and Joanne Marie (Chris A.) Adams, Cherry Tree; granddaughter, Jennifer Nelson (Chris Korney) and four great grandchildren. Sister of, Millie Stiles, Alverda; Edie Mae (John) Hughmanic, Clymer; and sisters-in-law, Janice Stiles, Cleveland, Ohio and Shelly Stiles, Northern Cambria. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nancy married John Penksa Jr. on January 5, 1957, in St. Edwards Church. They were married 25 years. After John passed away in 1982, Nancy went back to work at the Barnesboro Shirt Factory, where she used her talents as a seamstress. With a strong work ethic and a desire to continue growing, Nancy later earned her cosmetology license through the Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology in Johnstown. She went on to own and operate her own salon, where she not only served her clients with care and skill, but also formed many meaningful and lasting friendships throughout the years. Nancy enjoyed the conversations, connections, and special relationships she built with those who came through her door. Family meant everything to Nancy. Her crowning jewels were her three daughters, two granddaughters, and her four great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She loved hanging out with her sisters and brothers. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and spending family time during the holiday was cherished. Family and friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, where a service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2026. Committal, Holy Cross Cemetery, Northern Cambria.
