Olga Ann Roman Horton passed away July 8, 2024, in Plymouth, MA surrounded by her children. Olga was born July 14, 1931, in Patton, PA, the daughter of Anna (Huscak) and Michael Roman. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth, of 53 years of marriage, on November 14, 2006, after caring for him at home due to Parkinson’s; eleven siblings, Anna, John, Michael, Stephen, Mary, Helen, Catherine, Julia, Paul, Elizabeth and Edward. Survived by her three children, Dr. Valerie Ann Horton Sweeney; Kenneth Allen Horton Jr., husband of Stephanie; Elaine Marie Lapomardo; six grandchildren, Rebecca Hardin, Sarah Hoogendoorn, Siobhan Sweeney and her partner Cole, Falon Phillips wife of Nick, Charley and Emily Lapomardo; six great grandchildren, Wyatt, Cash, Gabby, Sean, Lyla and Coen. She is also survived by two sons-in-law, Paul Sweeney and James Lapomardo; one daughter-in-law, Jeannie Horton, grandson-in-law, Derick Hoogendoorn, and many cherished nieces and nephews with special thanks to Rolinda Thornton, Rhonda Wolfe and Rodney Kline for walking her home. Olga was the 10th of 12 children. At the age of 17, Olga became a novitiate at Mt. St. Macrina, Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great. Following a debilitating illness, Olga returned home for respite care. Transitioning her care to Metuchen, NJ through the dedication of Joan and Steve Roman, Olga made a miraculous recovery. She began a new life working as a bookkeeper for Mr. Burrows in his local pharmacy. During a visit to the pharmacy to buy stationery, Kenneth met Olga and fell in love and married on June 27, 1953. They had three children, Valerie, Ken Jr., Elaine and one little angel, miscarriaged. Olga loved to crochet baby blankets for friends and family in memory of her mother, Anna. She was an avid reader, historian, lay theologian and scrabble player. As a young mother, Olga welcomed the neighborhood children and her nieces into her home, visited patients in local hospitals sewing stuffed animals as gifts, attended church singing her favorite hymns, and cooking her delicious chili. Olga loved to take spontaneous trips with Kenneth, enjoying new places together with stops along the way for antiquing. Later in life, Olga cared for her mother and father in-law as they faced declining health. Olga was also a colon cancer survivor. For her 80th birthday, her family planned a trip to New York City to visit Ellis Island, fulfilling a life’s dream of retracing the journey her parents made to America from Austria as teenagers, enduring historically stormy seas on the voyage to their new homeland. A private ceremony will be held at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, PA. Olga will be buried next to her devoted husband, interment SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Patton, PA.
