Washinsky, Paul, 99, Bakerton. Passed away January 8, 2022, in Altoona. Born July 22, 1922, in Bakerton. Survived by children, David, and wife Alison, Bridgeport, OH; John Washinsky, Clemmons, NC; Karen Crawford, Colver; Thomas “Wo-Wo” Washinsky, Bakerton; grandchildren, Matthew, Melanie, Gordon, Michael, and Trevor, also 7 great-grandchildren and sister, Helen Farabaugh, Hollidaysburg. He was born in Bakerton to Ukrainian immigrants, Matthew and Pazia (Stecko) Washinsky. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 62 years, Rose (Ilnicky) Washinsky, who died January 11, 2021. Daughter-in-law, Susan Washinsky; sister, Mary Jovanis and brother, Nick Washinsky. Lifelong member of SS, Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Bakerton. Paul served in WWII as a PFC CBI 236 Combat Engineer Battalion (1943-1945) and helped construct the Burma-Ledo Road. He retired after 42 years of working in the mines. Accomplished gardener well into his later years. He was a dedicated, loving husband and father. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Church, Bakerton. Please follow all Covid-19 precautions with masks and social distancing if planning to attend.
