WHALEN, PAUL R., 70, Northern Cambria, passed away September 27, 2024. Born October 30, 1953, in Spangler, the son of the late Joseph W. and Elizabeth (Baker) Whalen. Survived by sister, Carole (David) Smith, McKees Rocks; and brothers, Art (Jean) Whalen, Northern Cambria; Pat (Carol) Whalen, Northern Cambria; Vincent (Tammie) Whalen, Murrells Inlet, SC; and Kevin (Nancy) Whalen, Middletown, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Paul worked as a civil engineer, surveyor, and carpenter. He recently retired after many years with Marshall Construction. A life member of Spangler Fire Company, Paul selflessly invested 365 days to the building of the company’s Contres-Greer Social Hall, sharing his talents and skills to help create a community venue everyone could enjoy. He was a charter member of Emeigh Sportsman’s Club and Lodge 44. Social member of VFW Post 7503 and American Legion Post 569. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. His favorite place was in the quiet of his camp in Potter County. In his free time, Paul used his talents as a skilled craftsman to make beautiful furniture pieces for family. Honoring his request, there will be no public viewing or visitation. Family and friends are invited to a funeral mass which will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Mark Groeger officiating.
