Robert "Ducky" J. Domalik

DOMALIK, ROBERT J. “Ducky”, 58, Hastings, passed away November 11, 2021, after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with cancer.  Born May 13, 1963, in Spangler, the son of Francis J. and Margaret (Marshall) Domalik.  Bob was preceded in death by his mom in 1985 and his dad in 2011.  He cared for both of his parents during their chronic illnesses. Survived by sister, Donna married to Gene Cunningham of Hastings; nephews, Garret (Jackie) Cunningham, Dane (Erica) Cunningham, and Ian (Samantha) Cunningham; great-nephews, Roman and Clay Cunningham; and many friends, especially Danny Kirkpatrick who greatly assisted Bob during his illness.  Bob was the proprietor of “The Lanes” in Hastings for many years, where he started his working career at age 12.  He was a certified electrician who worked in home security and the cable industry in the early part of his career.  He spent the last nine years until mid-August working as a maintenance foreman at Specialty Tires of America in Indiana, PA where his boss and coworkers were very supportive during his illness and treated him like family.  A lifetime member of Hastings Volunteer Fire Company where he served as a past president, member of Cambria County Fire Association and Central District Fire Association.  Bob enjoyed cooking, gardening, and gadgets.  He had an extraordinary knack for unconventional problem-solving.  If it was broke, Bob could fix it, usually with what he had in his pockets or at an arms-reach.  MacGyver would’ve played second fiddle to Bob.  His optimism and sense of humor were evident throughout his illness and touched many lives.  Special thanks to Dr. Matt Dvorchak and staff, Conemaugh Cancer Center—Dr. Sbetin & Dr. Tulley and staff, Mainline Pharmacy, Denny Fowler, and all the employees at Miners Medical Center and 365 Hospice, especially Sarah and Sis.    Friends will be received from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria and beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Hastings, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Fr.
